These are the most common reasons the contractors request for more time working on a project:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Natural phenomenon, bad weather, heavy rain, storms, etc., among other things we can&#8217;t control because of nature.<\/li>\r\n<li>When contractors somehow can&#8217;t get access to the site, whether accessibility or permit concerns<\/li>\r\n<li>Delays in material delivery<\/li>\r\n<li>Last-minute changes to designs, drawings, plans, etc.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\t<h3>What should be included in your EOT?<\/h3>\r\n\t<p>Contract follow a standard or guidelines, depending on the company, but the EOT doesn&#8217;t really have a strict template it follows. Here are common elements in the EOT that need to be included:<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Contract and project information<\/li>\r\n<li>Clear explanation any reason for the delay. This section should be backed up with the necessary documents, evidence, photos, videos, etc as long as necessary<\/li>\r\n<li>How it affects the project and the contract (the dates affected)<\/li>\r\n<li>Approval section<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\t<h3>How does an EOT become part of the contract?<\/h3>\r\n\t<p>The EOT document becomes part of the contract as proof that there was a request to extend the project timeline, as a way to make things official. This is right after the contractors send over the request, it&#8217;s reviewed, and approved.
