A witness point is a construction stage, event or juncture which may need supplementary inspection or verification.

This supplementary inspection or verification sometimes requires an additional 'witness';  an engineer or consultant who reviews or inspects the process of work being completed.

Unlike a Hold Point (HP), witness points do not stop work. They simply alert stakeholders to the work or event which has been outlined as out-of-the-ordinary for a particular reason.

Even though work may proceed when a witness point is issued, it's important to capture all of the necessary information in a witness point and to alert outlined parties as to the date and types of works which will be taking place.
